Florence is one of Italy's main cities, with a glorious history and a wealth of art and stunning architecture.

The river Arno flowing through it is enchanting, with some very picturesque bridges, particularly the Ponte Vecchio.

It is not a big city, and its historic centre is contained in a relatively small area, which can mostly be covered on foot.

A spectacular view of Florence can be enjoyed from Piazzale Michelangelo which, being on a hill "Oltrarno" (on the other side of the Arno), dominates the central part of town.

Hotel Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio in Florence Italy
Hotel Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio is a 4-star hotel in a superb location, right at the foot of Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) and the Vasari Corridor, a 5-minute walk from the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio and (in the opposite direction) Pitti Palace.
The hotel is in an area of Florence where you feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages at every step, and is few minutes' walk from all main sites. You never have to worry about getting lost.
Hotel Pitti Palace is 550 yards from Florence Cathedral, and 0.6 miles from Florence main station Santa Maria Novella.
The hotel is set in the Torre dei Rossi-Cerchi (Rossi-Cerchi Tower), built in the 1200s. At the base of the tower is an alcove housing an ancient marble basin for a fountain, above which stands a copy of Giambologna's bronze statue of Bacchus, hence the name "Fontana del Bacchino" for the fountain.
The original of the statue, completed in 1560, is in the National Museum of Bargello in Florence. Similarly, the original of Michelangelo's David, whose copy stands in Piazza della Signoria, can be seen at the Gallery of the Academy of Florence.
The sculpture depicts the Roman god Bacchus pouring the content of a cup and looking at the poured liquid (although he would have preferred wine to water, no doubt), and rests on a cubical marble pedestal, adorned with a lion's head from which comes the gush of water falling into the basin.
The Hotel Pitti Palace's entrance is just next to the Bacchus Fountain. The hotel, as we were saying, is in the Rossi Tower, which with its 7 floors is one of Florence historic centre's tallest buildings. In it it's still possible to see the stone buttresses of the Old Bridge.
The hotel's seventh floor houses a splendid suite.
The sixth floor is a spectacular showcase of that shining jewel which is Florence: you can have breakfast in the dining room, where all around you are large windows, each of which frames the buildings and landmarks of the historic centre in a different way. The views are breathtaking, whether enjoyed in the morning during breakfast or at sunset while dining, and you won't easily forget them. Also on the 6th floor are a café lounge and a bar with ample panoramic terraces from which you can almost touch Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Cathedral, Santa Croce, Fiesole and the other sights of Florence's skyline against the Tuscan hills' landscape. Breakfast can be served on the terraces in the summer.
All rooms and suites have modern furnishings, free WiFi, air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, en-suite bathroom with hairdryer and free toiletries, and more amenities.
Some rooms and suites, which you can choose when you book, have large windows or balconies overlooking Ponte Vecchio, the Arno River, the surrounding Medieval city area or the gardens of Forte Belvedere and additional facilities like separate living room and others.
The seventh-floor suite with panoramic views and large balcony comprises a large double bedroom, a separate living room with sofa bed, a study and 2 bathrooms.
The hotel has a very good relationship between price and quality.
Public parking is possible at a location nearby.

Average price per room or suite, including breakfast
Single, double, triple rooms & suites for 3: 70 - 400 euros
