"When I booked our various Italian lodgings on Venere , it was with great trepidation since we had never been to Europe. Reading guide books and hearing the experiences of a friend who had been in Italy recently were our only preparation. Arriving at the Globus dispelled all fears. From that moment forward, every member of the staff bent over backwards to welcome us warmly, answer any question, offer advice, make arrangements or recommendations or help a guest with anything whatsoever that he or she might need. The rooms were clean, modern and completely comfortable. There was never a shortage of hot water or clean towels. A laptop computer in the breakfast room was available to guests most of the day and into the evening. The breakfasts equalled or surpassed those at our other Italian lodgings. Our "superior double" room had a balcony with a grand view of the Basilica di San Lorenzo cupola and Medici Chapel rooftops. The location is exceptionally convenient to the San Lorenzo markets, Santa Maria Novella church and the rail/bus stations. Of course, in Florence, all the "hot spots" are in a relatively small area. If, like me, you want more than the very modest mom and pop pensione but not the price or luxuries of a 5-star hotel, book the Globus with confidence."

"This is a great hotel. It is situated in a good area in Florence. 5 minute walk from the train station...10 minute walk to Duomo....15 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio. The staff is incredible as well. The furniture, flooring, and overall appearance of the hotel is very modern...with free internet in your room as well as the breakfast room. "I do not know why this hotel is ranked as a 3 star hotel. It really should be a 4 star hotel. At least, it is better than most 4 star hotels we stayed at in Italy. We pretty much went for 4 star hotels only, but picked Globus because it had so many good reviews on Venere . The hotel is all that the good reviews tell you it is. It is very clean and modern, recently renovated. The staff are almost unbelievably friendly, all fluent in English, and very helpful. The customer service is impeccable. The rooms are of good size (european standards) and very clean and modern. We loved the cute telephones in the rooms. The free internet connection in the room was great (wireless web TV). There is also free internet connection in the breakfast room. Breakfast was very good. There is a two fairly short flight of stairs from entrance to the front desk, but the hotel staff are available to help move your luggages if you need. From the front desk you can take the elevator (a very small one) to other floors for your luggages, but we did not have to, the hotel staff put our luggages in our room for us. The location of hotel is also great, close to train station and tourist sites (this is generally not an issue in Florence since it is a small city and you can walk everywhere). There is a very good restaurant right across the street from front door (across and about 2 doors to the right) with good prices and excellent food, not a tourist trap. A coin-op laundry around the corner from the hotel is a plus. This is an ideal hotel and a great place to stay. We highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again."
"The Globus Hotel was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our entire 15 day trip all over Italy. We were a couple on a tourist visit, and stayed there for 3 nights. The location of the Hotel was great, within walking distance to the train station, and to basically most major tourist sites. All of the front desk employees were excellent, in particular I should mention Nick, who went out of his way everytime to help us with even smallest things. The room was truly superb. Very spacious, the bathroom was excellent and included a bathtub and shower, good water pressure. The aircondition worked magic. The rooms all have free wireless internet connection, which is very nice and you can check your e-mail while in bed. There is also a free internet connection in the lobby that you can use. The breakfast was very good. There is a coin-op laundry in the street just around the corner which comes handy (costs 6 Euro to do one load wash and dry). Overall, this is truly one of the best (if not the best) hotels that you can choose in Florence, with reasonable prices. We highly recommend it. We will certainly stay here next time."

"Small hotel with GREAT location!!! Few blocks to L'Accademia and Il Duomo. Walking distance to almost every other attraction and the train terminal. The owner speaks very good English and was very nice and friendly. We arrived much before check-in time and were immediately given our room. We were three persons and the room was very spacious; not so the bathroom, but it was very clean. The air conditioning worked well (we were there during a heat wave in August!), as did the mini-fridge. All in all this was a very good value for the money. We would definitely stay there again."
